The New Ulaanbaatar International Airport (UBN), officially named Chinggis Khaan 
International Airport, opened in July 2021 and replaced the old Buyant-Ukhaa 
Airport (ULN) as Mongolia’s main air gateway. Located about 52 kilometers south 
of Ulaanbaatar in Khöshigt Valley, the airport features a modern terminal 
designed to handle up to 3 million passengers annually, with future expansion 
potential.
Facilities include duty-free shops, restaurants, lounges, car rental desks, and 
currency exchange services. The airport serves as the hub for MIAT Mongolian 
Airlines, which operates flights to destinations such as Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing, 
Frankfurt, and Istanbul, while carriers like 
Korean Air,
Asiana Airlines, 
Air 
China, Turkish Airlines, and 
Aeroflot also connect Ulaanbaatar with major cities 
in Asia and Europe.
Ground transport options include shuttle buses, long-distance coaches, taxis, 
and ride-hailing services, though travel times to the city are relatively long 
due to the airport’s distance. A rail link is planned for the future to improve 
connectivity.
