TAP Air Portugal is a currently state-owned flag carrier airline of Portugal,
headquartered at Lisbon
Portela Airport which also serves as its hub. As of March 2025, the airline
operates around 2,500 weekly flights to 90 destinations in 34 countries
worldwide.
TAP Air Portugal was founded on 14 March 1945 and commenced operations on 19 September 1946. It was privatized for the first time in its history during 1953. Throughout its existence, TAP has alternated interminably between public and private ownership.
