The museum was founded in 1891 and relocated to the campus of the University of Florida in 1906 and was chartered as the state's official natural history museum by the Florida Legislature in 1917.

Getting There

If you're traveling by car, you can take Interstate 75 to Gainesville and then take exit 384 and follow the signs to the University of Florida campus. The museum is located near the center of the campus, and there is parking available nearby.

If you're traveling by public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus or Amtrak train to Gainesville and then take a bus or taxi to the museum.
