King Opera House

The King Opera House is a performance hall located on Van Buren, Arkansas's Main Street. Since it was built in the late 19th century, the opera house's stage has hosted many plays and performers.

There is a story of a doctor's daughter who fell in love with a leading man. A traveling salesman, who loved the daughter, pretended to be the actor and called the doctor and requested a meeting at the train depot - where the actor would be the next morning. When the doctor arrived at the train station and saw the actor, he shot and killed him. The ghost is said to materialize in the Opera House, dressed in a top hat and Victorian style coat with a long cape.

If you are coming from the north, take I-540 southbound until you reach exit 5 for AR-59. Turn left onto AR-59 southbound and follow it until you reach Van Buren. Turn right onto Main Street and follow it until you reach the King Opera House, which will be on your left.

If you are coming from the south, take US-71 northbound until you reach Alma, Arkansas. Then, take I-540 northbound until you reach exit 5 for AR-59. Turn right onto AR-59 southbound and follow it until you reach Van Buren. Turn right onto Main Street and follow it until you reach the King Opera House, which will be on your left.

If you are coming from the west, take I-40 eastbound until you reach Alma, Arkansas. Then, take US-71 northbound until you reach I-540. Take I-540 northbound until you reach exit 5 for AR-59. Turn right onto AR-59 southbound and follow it until you reach Van Buren. Turn right onto Main Street and follow it until you reach the King Opera House, which will be on your left.
