MIAT Mongolian Airlines offers an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service for children travelling without a parent or legal guardian. The service provides supervision from departure until the child is handed over to the authorised receiving adult at the destination.

Eligible Age Groups

The Unaccompanied Minor service is available for children within the airline's approved age range.

• Children under 5 years of age are not accepted for travel without an accompanying adult.
• Children aged 5 to 11 years travelling alone are required to use the Unaccompanied Minor service.
• Passengers aged 12 to 15 years may travel independently, although the service may be requested by a parent or guardian when additional supervision is preferred.
• Passengers aged 16 years and above are treated as adult travellers.

Booking Requirements

The Unaccompanied Minor service should be arranged before departure through MIAT Mongolian Airlines or an authorised ticket office. Advance booking enables the airline to confirm staffing and operational requirements.

Parents or guardians must provide:

• Completed Unaccompanied Minor documentation.
• Valid travel documents.
• Contact information for both the departing and receiving adults.
• Identification documents where required by immigration authorities.

Airport Procedures

The accompanying adult must remain at the departure airport until the aircraft has departed. Upon arrival, the designated receiving adult must present valid identification before the child is released.

Airline staff supervise the child during check-in, boarding, the flight, transfers where applicable, and arrival procedures.

Travel Restrictions

The service may not be available on every route, codeshare flight, or itinerary involving extended transit times. Additional service charges may apply, and acceptance remains subject to operational limitations and seat availability.
