Ball's Bluff Battlefield and National Cemetery
The Battle of Ball's Bluff, on October 21, 1861, was a small but embarrassing
defeat for the Union early in the American Civil War. The land for a cemetery
was donated in 1865.
It is the smallest national cemetery in the United States.

The Ball's Bluff Battlefield and National Cemetery is located in Leesburg,
Virginia. The nearest public transportation option is the Loudoun County Transit
bus service. Bus Route 70 has a stop at Fort Evans Road, which is about a
20-minute walk from the battlefield and cemetery. It is recommended to check the
bus schedule ahead of time, as service may be limited on weekends and holidays.
