USS Stewart (DE-238) is an Edsall class destroyer escort. It is one of only two preserved U.S. destroyer escorts and the only surviving example of her class.

This ship was named for Rear Admiral Charles Stewart (28 July 1778 - 6 November 1869), who commanded USS Constitution during the War of 1812.

Getting There

The USS Stewart (DE-238) is located at the Port of Houston Authority Turning Basin Terminal in Houston, Texas. The closest METRO bus stop is the Manchester St @ Turning Basin bus stop, which is about a 10-minute walk from the terminal. From downtown Houston, you can take the METRO bus 50, 50B, or 50 Heights/Gulfton and transfer to the METRO bus 76 Magnolia/Turner, which stops at the Manchester St @ Turning Basin bus stop. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or ride-sharing service from downtown Houston to the USS Stewart (DE-238).
