The Pennsylvania Hospital was founded in 1751 by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond, making it the oldest hospital in the United States. The Pine Building was the original hospital and was based on the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Getting There

To get to the Pennsylvania Hospital by public transportation, you can take the Market-Frankford Line (Blue Line) and get off at the 8th Street Station. From there, you can walk east for one block to get to the hospital located at 8th and Spruce Streets.

Alternatively, you can take the Broad Street Line (Orange Line) and get off at the Walnut/Locust Station. From there, you can walk east on Walnut Street for about 5 blocks to get to the hospital.
