Memorial Hall

Memorial Hall was built as an art gallery for the 1876 Centennial Exposition. It
was the original home to the Philadelphia Art Museum. It was one of America's
first examples of Beaux-Arts architecture.
There is a scale Model of the 1876 Centennial Exposition fairgrounds in the
basement. The building is the home of Philadelphia's Please Touch Museum.
Memorial Hall is the only major building left from the 1876 Centennial
Exposition. Fairmount Park Chief Engineer Hermann Schwarzmann designed the
building.
Since October 18, 2008, the Hall has served as home to the Please Touch Museum.
