Gobbler's Knob

The location of the most famous annual Groundhog's Day ceremonies. Punxsutawney
Phil emerges from his temporary home on Gobbler's Knob each February 2nd, and if
he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter.
There is no parking at Gobbler's Knob. To see the Groundhog's Day ceremonies,
you must park in Punxsutawney and take a shuttle bus.
For the official ceremony, Phil is kept in a heated burrow underneath a
simulated tree stump on stage. Punxsutawney Phil does not live at Gobbler's
Knob. He lives in the Punxsutawney town library.
The first official Groundhog Day trip to Gobbler's Knob took place in 1887 by
"The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club," a group of groundhog hunters.

Getting There
Gobbler's Knob, the site of the famous Groundhog Day celebration in
Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, can be reached by public transportation. However,
since it is located in a rural area, the transportation options are limited. The
closest major city is Pittsburgh, which is approximately 80 miles southwest of
Punxsutawney.
From Pittsburgh, you can take a bus or train to the nearby town of Punxsutawney.
The closest bus station to Gobbler's Knob is in downtown Punxsutawney, about 2
miles away. From there, you can take a taxi or walk to Gobbler's Knob.
Alternatively, you can rent a car in Pittsburgh and drive to Gobbler's Knob,
which is located just outside of Punxsutawney. The drive takes approximately 1.5
to 2 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
