The estate was built between 1912 and 1915 for F. A. Seiberling, founder of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He gave it the name Stan Hywet, Old English for stone quarry.

It is now a historic house museum and gardens, open seasonally to the public.

Getting There

Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is a historic estate in Akron, Ohio. The easiest way to get there by public transportation is by taking the Metro RTA bus. From downtown Akron, you can take the bus Route 1 or Route 7 to the intersection of West Market Street and North Portage Path. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to the entrance of the estate.
