Gnadenhutten Massacre Monument
The Gnadenhutten Massacre, also known as the Moravian Massacre, was the killing
on March 8, 1782, of ninety-six Christian American Indians, including
sixty-eight women and children, by American militia from Pennsylvania during the
American Revolution.
This 37 foot (11 m) monument was dedicated on June 5, 1872. The inscription
reads: "Here triumphed in death ninety Christian Indians, March 8, 1782.
