Absecon Light
Absecon Light is the fifth tallest lighthouse in the United States. Its beason
was first lighted on January 15, 1857. Although it is no longer an active
navigational aid, the light still shines every night.
The lighthouse was designed by George Meade, who is best known for defeating
Confederate General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
Absecon Lighthouse is open all year round.

Getting There
Absecon Light is located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The closest public
transportation options are the NJ Transit buses, which run throughout Atlantic
City. Visitors can take the Atlantic City Jitney or a taxi from the bus stop to
Absecon Light. Additionally, the Atlantic City Rail Line runs from Philadelphia
to Atlantic City, and visitors can take a taxi or the Jitney from the train
station to the lighthouse.
