The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the Western Hemisphere, housing thousands of animals and representing several thousand species, all of which reside in 10 million US gallons (38,000 m3) of marine and salt water.

It was the largest aquarium in the world from its opening in 2005 until 2012, when it was surpassed by Marine Life Park in Singapore.

The Georgia Aquarium contains tens of thousands of fish and other sea creatures, representing several hundred species. The Aquarium's notable specimens include whale sharks, beluga whales, bottle-nose dolphins, and manta rays.

Getting There

You can get there by car, public transportation, or rideshare services. The closest MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) station is the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center station, which is served by both the blue and green rail lines. From there, it is a short walk to the aquarium.

If you are driving, the Georgia Aquarium has its own parking garage that is open 24/7. Additionally, there are several parking lots and garages nearby that offer paid parking.
