Bali Bird Park
Bali Bird Park is home to the world's largest and finest collection of
Indonesian birds, as well as fantastic species from Africa and South America.
Spanning two hectares of tree-covered land, the park provides sanctuary to
nearly 1,000 birds from 250 different species. Its innovative approach to
displaying rare and tropical birds involves placing them in habitats that mimic
their natural environments, alongside other bird species.
The park also features stunning flora, with over 2,000 tropical plants,
including 50 varieties of palms that attract many butterflies. With facilities
for restoration, research, and animal health, the park has a high success rate
in the captive breeding of exotic birds like hornbills and birds of paradise.
The park is divided into areas that replicate the natural habitats of the birds,
complete with trees and traditional artifacts.
Visitors can have a valuable experience in the Bali forest area of the park and
encounter some of the world's rarest birds, such as the Bali starling. Discover
exotic birds from Papua and one of the most complete collections of birds of
paradise globally. Explore the easternmost parts of Indonesia, home to numerous
birds and the Komodo dragons, giant carnivorous lizards that are direct
descendants of dinosaurs.
Marvel at the Javan Hawk-Eagle and the crested serpent eagle, and listen to the
chirping of finches echoing from the foliage. Visit the misty mountains and
inland forests of Sumatra to find and observe rare endemic birds. Venture into
other tropical continents within the park to see exotic birds like the South
American Scarlet Macaw and Toucan, the Congo Grey Parrot, and other birds of the
African savannah. Watch the cassowaries, cranes, herons, pelicans, and many
other birds as they roam freely, living and breeding throughout the park.
Stroll through aviaries designed to mimic the ecological systems of Bali's
forests and Papua's rainforests. Walk along paths and bridges shaded by dense
foliage where sunlight peeks through the leaves. Some strategically placed
viewpoints offer glimpses of birds flying freely, foraging, nesting, and mating.
The fastest and most convenient way to reach Bali is by air, with flights
connecting from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and major Indonesian cities to
Ngurah Rai International Airport (IATA: DPS, ICAO: WADD), also known as Denpasar
International Airport or I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, located 13 km
south of Denpasar.
