Passengers traveling with Air New Zealand can Check-in conveniently with the
check-in options provided as below:
Online Check-in
Domestic Check-in
Online check-in opens 24 hours before your flight. There will be a final
check-in completion time on your e-ticket. You can also see it on the Air New
Zealand mobile app.
This will be 30 or 20 minutes before your flight, depending on whether you have
bags to check in. Otherwise, if you're connecting with an international flight,
it will be 60 minutes before your domestic flight departure.
Remember this is the final check-in completion time. It's wise to arrive at the
airport well before the cut-off.
International Check-in
Online check in opens 24 hours before your flight. There will be a final check
in completion time on your e-ticket. You can also see your final check in
completion time on the Air New Zealand mobile app. It will be 90 minutes before
your flight is due to depart, unless you are travelling to or from the USA
(including transiting) where it will be 2 hours before your flight. Flights to
USA destinations open 4 hours prior to departure. Remember this is a final check
in completion time. It's wise to arrive at the airport well before the cut off.
Seat Selection or Purchase Pre-paid Extra Bags
Online check in lets you select a seat or purchase pre-paid extra bags. It can
also save you time at check-in, when you’re travelling with checked in luggage.
With online check in you can print your boarding pass before the airport or use
mobile boarding passes in the Air NZ mobile app, so you'll only need to use the
kiosk or counter if you have luggage to check in.
In some situations Air NZ can't issue a boarding pass online. You'll need to
complete check in at the airport if:
• You haven't met the entry and transit requirements (such as a visa, ESTA or
proof of onward ticket) for your destinations.
• You are departing from an airport where home printed or mobile boarding passes
are not accepted, such as Norfolk Island, Niue Island, Singapore Changi
International Airport and Ngurah Rai (Bali) International Airport.
Bag Drop Closes
• 30 minutes before domestic New Zealand flights
• 60 minutes before international flights, except for flights departing from
Sydney, London Heathrow and all US and Canadian airports when it closes 75
minutes before your flight departure
Airport Counter Check-in
Passengers should arrive at the airport before the minimum check-in time. Please
bring your valid passport, visas, and other necessary travel documents that you
used during the purchase of your ticket.
Please make sure that you have enough time to go through the security, please
arrive two hours prior to departure for international flights and 60 minutes for
domestic flights.
