Children up to age 12 years traveling alone are classified as
"Unaccompanied Minors” for which Air India provide a dedicated service. However,
on GULF-INDIA-GULF routes online on Air India, the age limit applicable is up to
16 years.

On purely domestic routes, Unaccompanied Minors are children above 5 years
and under 12 years.
"Unaccompanied Minors" will be accepted on Air India operated flights only.
Unaccompanied Minors shall not be accepted for travel on Air India flights, if
Interline Travel is involved at Transit point.
To avail this service, the mandatory formalities should be completed. To
download the applicable form click here or it can be downloaded from the
download section on Air India website and submitted as a set of 3 copies to the
nearest Air India office, a minimum of 3 working days prior to the scheduled
travel.
Children traveling in different class though accompanied by their parent /
guardian are to be treated at par with an unaccompanied minor and the requisite
procedure's for travel of an unaccompanied minor, as per IATA recommendations
are to be adhered.
It has also been decided that the existing procedure of handling of UM
(Unaccompanied Minor) shall be adhered to, as per the current laid down norms /
procedures and the only variation, because of the above, will be that the
procedure of handing over / taking over of the Unaccompanied Minor shall be at
the entry of the aircraft before boarding and after completion of disembarkation
of passengers.
Children and Minors Traveling to UAE
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai (Immigration) has
notified Implementation of the following procedure effective 1st June, 2018,
with regard to travel of Children & Minors traveling to United Arab Emirates (UAE).
• All minors (18 years and below) would need to have an authorization form
filled from their parents with relevant details of their address abroad and in
the UAE and information about who would be receiving them in the UAE (in case
they are not traveling with a parent).
• In case the minor is traveling with another family member, an authorization
letter from the parents or the guardians is still required.
• Airlines staff or Data can escort the Minors through Immigration provided that
the above-mentioned form is filled and the process to hand them over to the
receiving person is duly followed.
• As a last resort, the minor would indeed be deported if Immigration suspects
an illegal activity and the information provided are not sufficient to address
that. In which case, the normal INAD process and subsequent fines would be
applied.
• To avail this service Handling Charge of AED 165 or equivalent amount in INR
will be levied to/from Dubai Airport, the mandatory formalities should be

travel.
