Air North Unaccompanied Minors Policy
An unaccompanied minor (UM) is a child travelling without the supervision of a parent or guardian, and who is between the age of five and 11 (inclusive) under Air North Unaccompanied Minors Policy. Children under the age of five, or over the age of 12, may not fly as unaccompanied minors with Air North.
Unaccompanied minors must pay the applicable adult fare at the time of booking.
No additional fees are collected with the possible exception of excess baggage
or seat selection fees. In order to ensure that all information is correctly
filled out, it’s important that the unaccompanied minor is checked in at least
90 minutes prior to departure. Air North also require the name, address and a
contact telephone number and authorizing signature of the parent or guardian
authorizing the request for travel. This information is required in order to
assure the safety of the child. From the moment they arrive at airport check-in,
until they reach their final destination, all children are escorted and
supervised by airline staff.
Please note that the parent or guardian will be required to remain until up to
15 minutes after the flight has departed before leaving the airport. Upon
arrival, the child will be brought to the Air North arrivals area to meet the
guardian who is picking up the child.
Valid government-issued photo identification both at the time of check-in and
when picking up the unaccompanied minor. All unaccompanied minors connecting to
another airline must be met at the gate by a designated family member or friend
at the arrival city of Air North’s flight.
The designated guardian will be required to meet an Air North agent and provide
photo identification.
They will then be escorted through security by an Air North agent to the arrival
gate. The unaccompanied minor will be escorted from the aircraft to the gate by
a flight attendant, at which point the guardian will assume responsibility for
ensuring the unaccompanied minor picks up baggage and checks in as necessary for
their next flight.
Young travellers who are 12 years of age or older may not travel as
unaccompanied minors, and must travel on an adult ticket.
